Stop outsourcing your happiness!

Good rising!

There are 2 types of people in this world…

every-single-day-you-make-a-choice

Person 1: This person wakes up and has no patience whatsoever may find themselves even talking at the kettle… ‘oh hurry up’ then get to the train station and their train is delayed ‘oh for fuck sake!’ they curse to themselves (because obviously swearing at the timetable gets the train to your platform quicker) the kind of person who can’t sit in traffic for no longer than 5 minutes and then questions ‘will this be my day then..why always me?’ then will silently agree their life is crap and they have the worst luck. ha-ha..sound familiar?

Person 2: This person wakes up, maybe even still a little tired but a little more ready for the day,  no talking at the kettle because even a busy parent can find the sweet calm in waiting for the kettle, a few moments of doing nothing whilst waiting. Bliss. Train gets delayed, they get out a book or ring a friend (more time to do something they enjoy-no?) and a bit of traffic? Bit more time to listen to that podcast or just accept the fact that they are in traffic. They silently get to their destination in the end and don’t swear to themselves that the devil has a hold of their life. ha-ha!

‘Our minds are like a ballon in the wind, blown here and there by external circumstances’

I love this statement as it is so true, well it’s my truth anyway. If you truly question your happiness and your state of mind, how many of you will start to think of external things to use as a reflection? And my truth tells me that the moment I rely on external things for happiness is the moment my happiness is no longer mine.

I came across this amazing TED TALKS- Happiness is all in your mind: Gen Kelsang Nyema at TEDxGreenville 2014. I won’t say too much but if you’re looking for a peaceful mind set, seeking happiness or feeling agitated and unsettled with your life then I really hope this ted talks helps in some way. She talks of a philosophy that I honestly believe and use in my own life and ends with a 3 minute meditation…winning!

You can’t control others or circumstances so why let them control you?

Use this video and its teachings, apply them to your life even just for the week and watch the quality of your life rise. Don’t just take my word for it. Try it!

  1. I love TED talks, they are so motivating and inspiring. I tend to be person 1, although some days I try and be person 2. It’s so important to remind myself that happiness comes from within. Great post! Thank you x
